Chiropraktyka jest jedną z dziedzin medycznych o holistycznym modelu opieki nad pacjentem. Najbardziej rozpowszechniona jest w USA, ponieważ tam ta „sztuka leczenia” została stworzona, opracowana i rozwija się w tym kraju po dziś dzień. W Polsce jest stosunkowo nieznana, dlatego chcielibyśmy przybliżyć Czytelnikowi zakres jej działań i szerokie możliwości leczenia, które często błędnie są sprowadzane tylko do paramedycznego „kręgarstwa” lub nawet szamaństwa. W pracy wykazujemy, że zawód chiropraktyka ma głębokie podwaliny medyczne, obejmujące wiedzę z zakresu anatomii, fizjologii, patologii, technik manualnych, rehabilitacji, żywienia, higieny życia oraz zlecania, przeprowadzania i analizowania badań diagnostycznych. Bazuje na autoregulacji i samoleczeniu organizmu ludzkiego, nie korzystając tym samym z zabiegów chirurgicznych i środków farmaceutycznych, ale nie szczędząc ruchu, prawidłowego odżywiania, ziołolecznictwa i dbałości o samopoczucie pacjenta. Niestety w krajach europejskich działalność chiropraktyków jest znacznie mniejsza. Niekorzystanie w pełni, nawet w USA, z tego nowego sposobu leczenia wynika z monopolu medycyny prowadzonej przez lekarzy.

Chiropractic is one of the medical fields which provide a holistic care around the patient. It is mainly widespread in the United States because that’s the place where this “art of healing” was created, developed and is improving in that country until today. In Poland it’s relatively unknown and that’s why we would like to familiarize the readers with its range of impact and wide possibilities of healing, which are often concerned to be only a paramedical “bone-setting” or even “shamanism”. In article below we prove that chiropractic profession has strong medical foundations which include wide scope of knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pathology, manual medicine, rehabilitation, nutrition, hygiene of living and also commissioning, executing and analyzing diagnostic tests. Chiropractic is based on autoregulation and self-healing abilities of the human body and by the fact itself it does not use surgical procedures and pharmaceuticals but yet it does not spare activity, proper nutrition, herbalism and taking a good care about patients self-feeling. Unfortunately in the European countries chiropractic activity is smaller. Not fully using this way of healing, even in the United States, is a result of medical monopoly which is led by medical doctors.
