The article describes the different models of sport in the world. The approaches and principles of state regulation of the sports industry in the various countries were analyzed. In particular, the comparative analysis of the two models of regulation of sports sphere was done: the American and European. Sports consumption types were also represented and the role of motivating professional sports was emphasized, and focuses on the need to engage private business investment in the sports field. The problems of the sports industry in Ukraine transformation. A SWOT-analysis of sports sphere in Ukraine, as well as options for the transition to the new structure of the sports industry. Obtained the goals, objectives, methods, as well as the main directions of the reform of the sports industry in Ukraine: changes in the financing of sport and the principles of the change in the field of sports law.
