The main purpose of the article is to present the methods and activities undertaken by monks, officials and archivists in order to control the growing amount of records created or stored in the convent. The chronological range of the text is wide, as it covers nine centuries of the activities of the Benedictines of Lubiń in the Krzywiń Land. The paper discusses the history of the abbey and the history of Benedyktyni Lubiń [Benedictines Lubiń] collection stored at the State Archives in Poznań. It examines the source value of the monastery archive and looks at how the monastery records were organised while they were kept in the convent, state administration units and the State Archives.
