The authors presents the characteristics of remedial resources in the process of psychological stress, indicating the rules and implications resulting from the Conservation of Resources Theory – COR, propounded by S. E. Hobfoll, as well as the ways of using the resources in difficult situations. COR theory is a valuable and helpful way in examining the mechanism of stress. Remedial resources, as a theoretical construct, are understood as goods (things, values) valued by people, which are closely related (directly or indirectly) with the survival of the individual. They include objects, conditions, personality traits, and reservoirs of energy, which are either valued as needed to survive or are used to acquire resources necessary to survive. Understanding the specificity of the resources available to people experiencing psychological stress can provide insights into how to deal with a situation of threat. Acquiring this type of knowledge can significantly contribute to developing the ability to discover remedial recources in oneself and thus to make more effective use of them in the situation of stress.
