This paper dealt with issue of creative destruction in the context of the modern Internet economy. An attempt was made to present the concept of creative destruction with the recognition of changes related to the information revolution and the spread of the Internet. The main thesis of studies assumed a statement declaring that the internet is the accelerator of creative destruction. As part of this thesis considers the implications of the acceleration of creative destruction for actors of Internet economy. Theoretical considerations are supported by the statistical data collected by The Linux Foundation and the financial results of selected dot-coms.
