Management effectiveness depends largely on the ability to motivate employees and influence their attitudes and behaviour. One tool that enables managers to do so is a motivation system. The article assumes that such a system is an ordered set of motivational tools related to each other, whose aim is to encourage employees to achieve the enterprise’s objectives, and create the conditions to allow them to do so. Thus, appreciating the role of the motivation system in an enterprise, the aim of this article is to display the basic levels of an analysis and assessment, the use of which will lead to the designation of areas needed for radical changes and improvement to be made. To achieve this goal the paper presents the function and structure of the motivation system. The author also provides research tasks and criteria for analysing and assessing a motivation system.
