The definitions of the lexical unit ktoś słyszy coś (someone hears something) given in literature and Polish dictionaries, suggest the crucial semantic component of the unit under consideration are uszy (ears). Thus, słyszenie (‘hearing’) is ‘to, co się dzieje w uszach’ (‘something that happens in ears’). That simplified definition seems to be a very useful starting point of future analysis of the expressions of hearing perception.
