Programy foresight znalazły swoje zastosowanie nie tylko w gospodarce, lecz także w celu rozwiązywania problemów społecznych. Foresight ewoluował od foresightu technologicznego do foresightu regionalnego. Oznacza to, że biorąc pod uwagę systemy społeczno-gospodarcze, w zależności od założonych celów, równolegle funkcjonują programy foresight dla przemysłu i dla rozwoju regionalnego. Kluczowe w wykorzystaniu foresightu jest natomiast kształtowanie przyszłości, a nie tylko jej przewidywanie. Forum Gryf jest przykładem inicjatywy regionalnej, która przy wykorzystaniu metodyki foresight odgrywa istotną rolę w kształtowaniu warunków rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego regionu Pomorza Zachodniego.

Foresight was implemented to business just after World War II. In accordance with Japanese experience, foresight is also useful in solving problems of societies. In present socio-economic systems technological and regional foresight could be used at the same time to shape future instead of making predictions. Forum Gryf is a case of regional foresight programme which plays an important role in instituting favourable conditions for socio-economic regional development of West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
