Along with the increasing involvement of forces in peace and crisis response operations, as well as a change of approach to achieve operations’ objectives (reaching the aim causing minimal own and enemy’s losses), new challenges and threats have appeared facing the forces. These are mainly situations in which employing lethal weapons is wrong and could lead to unnecessary bloodshed. In order to prevent them, the forces use non-lethal weapons as an alternative and complementary to their basic armament. The article describes non-lethal weapons, their classification and kinds, as well as it shows their application in the military.
