Celem opracowania jest rekonstrukcja Sandelowskiej krytyki Rawlsowskiego rozumienia osoby oraz próba wykazania, że różnice stanowisk obu myślicieli w przedmiocie kompetencji jednostki dążącej do samodzielnego ustalenia standardów zachowań moralnych nie są de facto tak znaczące, jak próbuje nas o tym przekonać autor "Liberalism and the Limits of Justice". Próbę tę autor podejmuje zachęcony rozważaniami Willa Kymlicki, dla którego komunitaryzm jest głosem w obrębie liberalnej tradycji intelektualnej, przez co również koncepcja osoby, jako podmiotu moralnego, w filozofii Michaela J. Sandela, pozostaje w kontakcie z ustaleniami Johna Rawlsa, nie zaś w ostrej opozycji do nich.

The article’s goal is to reconstruct the Sandelian critique of the Rawlsian vision of person and to confirm that differences in positions of both philosophers on competences of the individual as a self-originated source of moral standards are not so vivid as the author of ‘Liberalism and the Limits of Justice’ tries to convince us. In my attempt I follow considerations of Will Kymlicka who perceives communitarianism as a voice within the scope of liberal intellectual tradition; therefore, the Sandelian vision of person as a moral being seems to coincide the Rawlsian position on it rather than to contrast it.
