The sketch is devoted to the works of Albrecht Dürer, in particular to his series of fourteen graphics Apocalypsis cum figuris. Particular woodcuts of this most outstanding eschatological cycle in European art are linked to the sequences of the Biblical text, which means, that every image can be associated with a particular fragment of St John’s Revelation. Hence one can see the opportunity of presenting the cycle in the way that unites the graphic and literary elements, and evokes the musical context – in particular the first two parts of Mozart’s opus magnum – The Requiem KV 620 oratorio – which perfectly harmonizes with the events presented in the woodcuts. Such a combination of images, words and music opens up new interpretative opportunities.
