In the article reveals the introduction of elements of the Swedish experience in the education system in Ukraine. Increasing requirements for the professional level of teachers, developing European criteria for assessing the quality of their work led to the establishment in Sweden of a modern system of training teachers of foreign languages at the universities. Positive experience of Swedish foreign languages education system can be used in Ukraine in such forms: to provide students with a broad choice of subjects and teachers; to increase attention to the development of intercultural competence; to increase attention to the ability of foreign language teachers to receive professional knowledge throughout life; to strengthen social-humanitarian orientation of future teachers’ training. Accordingly, the areas of experience of the implementing elements of the Swedish system of professional training of the foreign languages teachers in Ukraine are developed. Based on the research on the training of students of the language faculties in Sweden, it is found out that effective means in modernizing teaching in higher teacher education is thematic disciplinary courses aimed at developing the competence of the foreign languages teachers. In order to gain attention to the development of intercultural competence of Ukrainian future foreign languages teachers we propose implementation in the learning process the following courses and special courses: “Communication ethno-stylistics”, “Psychology of cross-cultural communication”, “National communication style”, “Intercultural Communication Training”. For increased attention to the development of the ability of the foreign languages teachers to obtain professional knowledge throughout life, we suggest the introduction into the learning process of these courses and special courses “Cognitive Linguistics: methods and techniques study”, “Modern and traditional approaches to the analysis of language units”, “Research Methods in structural linguistics”, “Quantitative methods in linguistics”. In order to improve the socio-humanitarian orientation of the future foreign languages teachers’ training in Ukraine, we suggest the implementation into the learning process of these courses and special courses: “Gender aspects of psychology”, “Ethnic Psychology” and so on. The directions of further development can be the implementation of elements of the Swedish experience in the field of increased attention to the selection of applicants for teaching profession by implementing certain psychological tests for suitability.
