Rola współczesnego nauczyciela określana jest jako niejasna, wewnętrznie niespójna, psychologicznie trudna i niezgodna z jego innymi ważnymi rolami. Kwestia nakładania się ról zawodowych i osobistych urasta w tym zawodzie do rangi istotnego problemu z uwagi na to, że większość polskich nauczycieli to kobiety. Muszą one poświęcić znaczną część sił i czasu na prowadzenie domu i opiekę nad dziećmi, nierzadko kosztem aktywności zawodowej. Z drugiej strony, praca nauczyciela wymaga wykonywania pewnych obowiązków w domu, co ogranicza czas, który mógłby być przeznaczony dla rodziny. Celem podjętych badań było poznanie opinii nauczycieli o sposobie łączenia roli zawodowej z rodzicielską, o wzajemnych powiązaniach i trudnościach wynikających z pełnienia tych ról oraz konsekwencjach, jakie ponoszą sami nauczyciele, ich dzieci oraz uczniowie. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników stwierdzono, iż łączenie roli rodzica z wykonywaniem zawodu nauczyciela nie napotyka na szczególne utrudnienia. Trudności wynikają natomiast z niedostatecznej wiedzy i umiejętności wychowawczych, którymi dysponują nauczyciele, co można uznać za ważny problem pedagogiczny i społeczny.

The role of modern teacher is defined as a vague, internally erratic, psychologically difficult and incompatible with their other important roles. The issue of overlapping of the professional and the personal roles grows to the rank of a significant problem in teaching profession, because the majority of Polish teachers are women. They need to devote a substantial part of energy and time for running the house and taking care of children, often at the cost of professional activity. On the other hand, the teaching profession requires performing certain duties at home, which reduce the time that could be dedicated to the family. The aim of the study was to investigate the opinions of teachers on how to merge the professional and the parental role, the mutual relationships and the difficulties arising from the performance of these roles and the consequences borne by the teachers themselves, their children and students. On the basis of obtained results, it can be concluded that combining the parental role with the profession of the teacher did not present any particular difficulties. However, difficulties arise from insufficient knowledge and low educational skills available to teachers, which is a serious pedagogical and social problem.
