The achievements of science focusing on an analysis of the reasons for enterprise birth as well as its features determining that it is considered as the basic form of organisation of business activity, which is able to behave in an innovative and effective way, are relatively modest. In her article, the author presents the chosen important concepts discussing the premises of emergence of an enterprise treated as the basic form of organisation of business activity. She also presents the determinants of the environment allowing for functioning of market innovative enterprises striving for a constant improvement of their effectiveness. The latter depends not only on the features of the very enterprises (nature of the owner, entrepreneurship, scope and type of responsibility, risk, etc.), but also on the conditions, under which that organisation operates.

Достижения науки, сосредоточивающие внимание на анализе причин рождения предприятия, равно как его свойств, предопределяющих то, что оно считается основной формой организации экономической деятельности, которая умеет вести себя инновационным и эффективным образом, относительно скромны. В статье представлены избранные важные концепции, рассматривающие предпосылки визникновения предприятия, воспринимаемого в качестве основной формы организации экономической деятельности. Представляются также обусловленности среды, предоставляющей воз- можность функционирования рыночных инновационных предприятий, стремящихся к постоянному повышению эффективности. Последнее зависит не только от свойств самого предприятия (характера собственника, предпринимателя, круга и вида ответственности, риска и т.п.), но и от условий, в каких действует организация.
