The article attempts to interpret Szczepan Twardoch’s novel Drach as a specific narration about Upper Silesia. The repeatedly returning plot of family stories full of ambiguities and omissions (“the secret oral history”), passed from generation to generation, makes it possible to analyze this work in the context of postcolonial studies.
