Jak wynika z treści artykułu kompetencje społeczne są bardzo różnie definiowane. Nie wszystkie te ujęcia kompetencji społecznych mają walor preskryptywny a więc użyteczny dla polityk. Podejścia transdyscyplinarne w definiowaniu tego typu kompetencji wydają się poznawczo najbardziej owocne. Dorobek socjologii i psychologii (społecznej) traktowany komplementarnie pozwala znacznie lepiej wyjaśnić czym są „kompetencje społeczne”, jak się one kształtują oraz jakie jest ich znaczenie w dowodzeniu i kierowaniu niż ujęcia monodyscyplinarne. Kompetencje społeczne nie powstają same z siebie. Są one kształtowane w wyniku złożonych procesów socjalizacji, edukacji i wychowania. Aby więc racjonalnie i skutecznie rozwijać kompetencje społeczne musimy uwzględniać w toku ich rozwijania wiedzę nie tylko z psychologii ale także z innych nauk społecznych zwłaszcza z zakresu socjologii. Szczególne znaczenie, jak autor stara się wykazać, ma tu wiedza dotycząca mechanizmów, etapów, efektów i typów socjalizacji.

As is clear from the content of the article, social competences are very differently defined. Not all these approaches to social competences have a prescriptive value and are therefore useful for politics. Transdisciplinary approaches in the definition of this type of competence seem to be the most fruitful cognitively. The achievements of sociology and psychology (social) treated complementarily allows to better explain what are "social competences", how they shape themselves and what is their importance in commanding and management than monodisciplinary approaches. Social competences do not arise by themselves. They are formed as a result of the complex processes of socialization, education and upbringing. So in order to rationally and effectively develop social competences, we must take into account in the course of their development knowledge not only from psychology but also from other social sciences, especially in the field of sociology. Particular importance, as the author tries to show, has knowledge about the mechanisms, stages, effects and types of socialization.
