The article highlights certain analogies concerning the ongoing cooperation between the Visegrad Group and the contingent of CEE states under the rule of Jagiellon dynasty towards Ukraine. It also tries to outline the borders of the CEE states in a geopolitical and geoeconomical context, in order to depict the perception of the region in the world and to describe the current cooperation within the V4 countries. The main arguments of the article are as follows: 1. CEE states as a single unit are a creation in statu nascendi. 2. Control over the shortest routes between the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Seas is the sine qua non condition of existance regarding the CEE states as a geopolitical unit capable of counterbalancing the power of Germany and Russia within the region. 3. The Visegrad Group is the core of the CEE states and the avant-garde of regional integration.
