W naukach o zarządzaniu sformułowanie misji stanowi punkt wyjścia dla ustalenia celów działania przedsiębiorstwa, strategii i programów rynkowych ich realizacji. Deklaracje zawarte w misjach przedsiębiorstwa mogą być formułowane w wąskim lub szerokim zakresie oraz w różnym stopniu uwzględniać zmienność warunków otoczenia. Na podstawie wyników własnych badań empirycznych misji 173 największych polskich eksporterów prezentowanych w Internecie omówiono hierarchię elementów strukturalnych misji, ich wzajemne powiązania i relacje. Badania pozwoliły stwierdzić, że w grupie badanych firm 37% nie prezentuje swoich misji na stronach WWW, zdecydowana większość misji eksporterów ma cechy charakterystyczne dla misji rynkowych i kompleksowych.

The formulation of mission is in the management sciences the starting point for establishing business objectives, strategies and market programs of their realization. The statements contained in the company's missions can be formulated in a narrow or broad range and take into account the variability of environmental conditions to varying degrees. On the basis of the results of own study of 173 largest Polish exporters’ missions published on the Internet the hierarchy of structural elements of the mission, their mutual connections and relations were presented. According to the study results, 37% of the surveyed companies do not present their missions on the web-sites. The vast majority of exporters missions has the characteristics of the market and comprehensive missions.
