Turkey and Iran, with the participation of other western states, try to control the development of events in the Middle East. It is known that as far as it concerns the events in the Arab countries, whose onset took place in Tunisia, then they relocated to Egypt, and at present to Libya, Turkey has been watching them anxiously. Like the western states, Turkey shares the concern that these events may be a reason for weakening of relations between the West and the Middle East countries. Turkey, being a NATO member, is also one of the states being candidates for the EU. Moreover, it has been maintaining strategic relations with America and European states. For the strategic position of Turkey, the West does hope that it will play an important role in shaping the political future of these countries.
