The historical discourse in the works of Tierno Monénembo provides the basis for a discussion on the interpretation of the perspective of the perception of the world created by this Guinean writer. The fact that Tierno Monénembo won the prestigious Renaudot Award in 2008 is a good occasion to recall this classic francophone writer who since the 1980s has written ten novels in pure style and featuring classic norms of the French language. This article underlines the postmodern vein of this “Baroque” writing. The progressing disintegration of historical discourse visible in Tierno Monénembo’s writings, which complies with the perception of history by such thinkers as H. White and F. Lyotard, attempts to seize in a unprejudiced way the complexity of the perennial, absurd and grotesque catastrophe which hits the African continent.

Dyskurs historyczny w dziełach Tierno Monénembo jest podstawą rozważań związanych z interpretacją perspektywy postrzegania świata stworzonego przez tego gwinejskiego pisarza. Przyznanie Tierno Monénembo w 2008 roku prestiżowej Nagrody Renaudot stanowi dobrą okazję do przypomnienia tego klasyka literatury frankofońskiej, który od lat osiemdziesiątych XX wieku jest autorem dziesięciu powieści, wyróżniających się czystością stylu i zachowaniem klasycznych norm języka francuskiego. W artykule zwrócono uwagę na postmodernistyczny charakter tej „barokowej” twórczości. Postępujący rozpad dyskursu historycznego widoczny w dziełach Tierno Monénembo, zgodny z wizją historii takich myślicieli jak chociażby H. White czy F. Lyotard, jest próbą uchwycenia bez uprzedzeń całej złożoności wiecznej, absurdalnej i groteskowej katastrofy, która uderza w kontynent afrykański.
