Posługa egzorcysty istniała w Kościele od jego początku. Jednakże w wiekach nowożytnych uległa widocznej degradacji. Dopiero na przełomie XX i XXI w. przeżywa swój renesans. Pomimo że prawie po 400 latach, w 1998 r. wydano nowy Rytuał (poprzedni obowiązywał od 1614 r.), to obecnie, na mocy specjalnego pozwolenia Stolicy Apostolskiej, można przeprowadzać egzorcyzmy także według „starego”. Obie więc księgi liturgiczne równolegle „funkcjonują” w Kościele. Dla współczesnego kaznodziejstwa są one ważnym źródłem, którego nie powinno się zaniedbywać. Z nich bowiem wypływa mądrość Kościoła, który w Trójjedynym Bogu znajduje pomoc i obronę w walce z Szatanem i demonami.

The ministry of an exorcist has existed in the Church from the beginning, but went into visible decline in the early modern centuries. It is only now, at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, that this ministry is having a renaissance. Although the new Rite was published in 1998, after nearly 400 years (the previous one had been in force since 1614), exorcisms can still be performed according to the “old” rite under special permission from the Holy See. Thus, both liturgical books “function” in the Church. For contemporary preaching, both of them are an important source that should not be neglected. After all, it is them that contain the wisdom of the Church, which finds help and protection in the Triune God in its struggle against Satan and demons.

Das Mysterium des Exorzismus war von Anfang an Teil Kirche. Doch in der modernen Zeit gab es eine sichtbare Verschlechterung. Erst um die Wende vom 20. zum 21. Jahrhundert erlebt er eine Renaissance. Obwohl fast 400 Jahre alt, wurde im Jahr 1998 ein neues Ritual veröffentlicht (das vorherige Ritual war seit 1614 gültig). Heute ist es möglich, dass unter Sondergenehmigung des Heiligen Stuhls Exorzismen nach dem „alten“ Ritual durchgeführt werden. Also „funktionieren“ die beiden liturgischen Bücher in der Kirche. Für eine moderne Predigt sind sie wichtige Quellen, die nicht vernachlässigt werden sollten. Mit ihnen kommt die Weisheit der Kirche, in der sich der Dreieinige Gott, die Hilfe und die Verteidigung im Kampf gegen den Satan und Dämonen findet.
