The locality, which was founded in the Middle Ages in the valley of the Raba river, is also known for the 1913 architectural competition for a new manor house of the then owner, Zdzisław Jan Włodek. In the 1940s the 18th-century wooden church was replaced by a new one, made of stone, and designed by Bogdan Treter. Treter was also the one who designed the Włodek family country residence. Niegowić lies on the socalled papal trail – a walking trail which attracts visitors. The author aimed to describe a typical old Polish countryside landscape with a church and a manor house, bearing in the mind the development prospect of pilgrimage tourism. The goal of the article was to stress the role of Niegowić as a tourist destination.
