The current economic and social problems of countries, regardless of their wealth and political system, such as unemployment, social exclusion and rising costs of social security benefits, create the need to implement the idea of social economy to the economic reality of individual countries. They are related to the protection of socially handicapped, preventing polarization of poverty and other negative economic and social phenomena. Implementation of these ideas involves, as one can assume, development of cooperative form of management. Hence, the aim of this paper is to recognize the impact of cooperatives development, which is reflected in the increasing role of its values and constitutive principles in the practical implementation of social economy ideas and consequently in the development of civil society.
