Tekst dotyczy konsekwencji aksjomatu estetyki o pełnej autonomii sztuki i całkowitej wolności artysty. Idea, aby jakaś część świata ludzkiego była pozbawiona związku z etyką jest niebezpieczna, gdyż odmawia etyce miejsca wśród potrzeb duchowych, utożsamia ją z przymusem, a wolność - z jej brakiem. Idea ta jest też wewnętrznie sprzeczna. Wolność artysty jest bytem biurokratycznym i kończy się na progu muzeum. Problemu twórczości nie można rozważać bez uwzględnienia wątków pozaestetycznych, w tym - wrażliwości moralnej, która warunkuje każdą odpowiedzialną postawę, a więc także postawę twórczą. Absurdalność wielu współczesnych praktyk artystycznych jest najbardziej widocznym skutkiem usytuowania sztuki ‘poza dobrem i złem’. Zatem obecnie pierwszorzędną kwestią nie jest drążenie wszechstronnie już znanych aporii sztuki, ale podjęcie dyskusji nad relacją pomiędzy ‘człowiekiem’ a ‘artystą’.

The text refers to the consequence of the axiom of aesthetics, e.g. full autonomy of art and uninhibited freedom of an artist. The idea that there is no relationship between some part of human world and ethics is dangerous, because it denies ethics its place among spiritual needs and identifies it with constraint. Moreover, this idea is internally contradictory, too. Artist’s freedom has bureaucratic character and ends on the threshold of museum. One cannot consider the problem of creation regardless of non-aesthetic plots, including - moral sensibilities, that conditions every responsible attitude, as well as a creative attitude. Location of art “beyond good and evil” is most visible result of absurdity of many present artistic practices. So nowadays the main matter is not consideration of well-known aporias of art in every respect, but discussion over the account among “man” and “artist”.
