Abstracts
The scope of this article is to show synodal activity in the metropolis and the archdiocese of Lvov in three historic periods. The first part of the article presents the synods of 15 th and 16 th century, before the Council of Trent, which impelemented the Gregorian Reform. The synods also participated in the synodal legislation of the archdiocese of Gniezno. In the post Trent period, the synods of the archdiocese of Lvov implemented the Tridentine Legislation. The provincial synod of 1564 was the first synod in Poland, which accepted the resolutions of the Council of Trent. Two archdiocesan synods were also organized in the 20 th century. A synod of 1930 adopted regulations of the Code of Canon Law promulgated in 1917 and an archdiocesan synod of 1997 brought in the legislation of the II Vatican Council and the teachings of the Holy Father John Paul II. The provincial and archdiocesan synods in large measure contributed to the animation of religious life and the adoption of the universal law in the archdiocese of Lvov.
