Przedmiot analizy w artykule stanowią własności gramatyczne pewnej grupy leksemów, określanych tradycyjnie jako nazwy istot młodych niedorosłych, oraz ich status w nauczaniu polskiego jako obcego. Omawiane kwestie należą niewątpliwie do szczegółowych w glottodydaktyce, jednak wydają się interesujące jako przykład zmian w polszczyźnie. W pierwszej części rozważań opisane zostały cechy fleksyjne leksemów typu kurczę, w drugiej dyskutowany jest sposób i stopień ich uwzględnienia w nauczaniu polskiego cudzoziemców. Zapewne interesujący nas typ nazw będzie coraz bardziej ograniczany – do pojedynczych leksemów. Wydaje się to oczywistą konsekwencją i tendencji w systemie, i komunikacyjnego nastawienia w nauczaniu.

The article presents grammatical features of a group of Polish lexemes, denominated as names of cubs, and discusses their status in teaching Polish as a foreign language. Described issues are undoubtedly specific in glottodidactics, but they seem to be interesting as examples of language change in Polish. In the first part of the article the inflectional features of lexemes like kurczę are presented. The second part focuses on the level of their distribution and the manner in which the lexemes are included in teaching Polish to foreign students. It is probable that lexemes belonging to the analysed group will become rare in this context, reduced to single occurrences. It seems to be a natural consequence of both the tendency in the language system and communicative methods of teaching a foreign language.
