Teza/cel artykułu – Artykuł poświęcony jest opisaniu działań podjętych przez Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA, mających na celu przystosowanie RDA do funkcjonowania w Sieci Semantycznej. Metoda badań – Związek RDA z Siecią Semantyczną został zaprezentowany jako konsekwencja decyzji o ścisłym zespoleniu tego standardu ze światem cyfrowym. Omówione zostały zarówno nowe cechy RDA, które miały przyczynić się do unowocześnienia katalogów komputerowych, oferując im możliwość pełnego wykorzystania potencjału tkwiącego w nowoczesnych systemach bazodanowych i sieci internetowej, jak również wyniki prac prowadzonych w celu uczynienia RDA standardem kompatybilnym z Siecią Semantyczną. Wyniki i wnioski – Autor starał się wykazać, że podjęte przez JSC wysiłki przyniosły znaczące rezultaty, zarazem wskazując na fakt, iż jednoznaczna ocena skuteczności tych działań nie jest jeszcze możliwa, ze względu na brak wdrożeń RDA, wykorzystujących pełny potencjał tego standardu.

Thesis/objective – The article is a description of steps taken by the Joint Steering Committee (JSC) for Development of RDA in order to adjust RDA to be implemented within Semantic Web. Research method – The relationship of RDA and Semantic Web results from the decision of tight integration of this standard with the digital environment. The discussion covers new features of RDA intended to enhance computer catalogs with the potential offered by database systems and Internet as well as the results of research on making RDA compatible with Semantic Web. Results and conclusions – The attempt is made to show that JSC efforts brought significant results, although the evaluation of this efforts is not possible at the moment as there are no implementations of RDA employing full possibilities provided by the standard.
