The article presents the results of applied research by a creative research team of the project «Research and Education Internet Portal» Taras Shevchenko «at the initiative of the National Centre» Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Before working on the project more than 1000 members of the scientists, the educators, the lawyers, the museum and archive staff, the programmers, the designers, the engineers, the content managers and administrators were engaged. The uniqueness of the portal is to use software and information tools work with knowledge. By means of mapping knowledge the developers selected the computer ontologies, which allow selecting the basic concepts of a particular sphere of knowledge and make connections between them. The ontological approach provides efficient design components of a knowledge-oriented information system. The ontological knowledge system containing information description is based on the object-oriented formalization of procedures and descriptions of interpretational functions that manage the process of ontology-based information resource supply. The purpose of the article is to present the author’s innovative technological solutions for creating a unique information resource and show their advantages in promoting artistic creativity of a great poet to educate the students and the development of research competencies based on the computer ontologies. The main purpose of creating the portal is to familiarize Ukrainian and international community, including the young students with all aspects of the creative artist and the life course, the ability to conduct independent research by the student youth, to discuss the results of research and fund exposure Web resource. The development of the project is possible due to the fact that the historical figure of the great poet, his poetic heritage which presents an inexhaustible resource of education of the citizen and patriot. This resource is helpful to the teaching staff of educational units in terms of education the potential of the students. It is concluded that the work of this nature is implemented by the means of modern information and communication technologies, whish are the basis of innovative forms of self-teaching, research work and social activities of the students. It is mentioned that the computer ontology of a subject discipline can be regarded as an open database of the information provided in the conventional (formal) specification of the language knowledge. For ontologo-classification scheme means and methods of the artificial intelligence ontological approach is treated as a kind of systematic approach based on knowledge. The ontological approach provides efficient design components of a knowledge-oriented information system.
