There is no doubt that the quality plays a very essential role also in the foreign language teaching. Still, the necessity of the constant quality development and improvement seems to be undervalued. The purpose of the following article is to explore mutual correlation between quality and effectiveness of the foreign language teaching. In the article different approaches to the question of quality are discussed. The quality issues are presented throughout the main assumptions of the constructivist and cognitive theory. The paper gives also an insight into the advantages and disadvantages of introducing ISO systems to schools and universities. The author characterizes the main tools supporting ISO implementation and development in the field of the foreign language teaching. The main focus is on the constant evaluation and involvement of both the teachers and the students into the improving the quality of the foreign language teaching.
