Dr. Janusz Lehmann (1924-2002) was a conservator of historical monuments and an expert on theory and praxis. He was also an outstanding organiser of scientific and social undertakings in numerous fields of conservation as well as an author and translator of numerous professional publications. Participant and co-organiser of numerous specialist conferences on the conservation of historical monuments held both at home and in Italy, Spain, the United States, Germany, the Czech Republic, the former Soviet Union, Tunisia, India and Hungary. Dr. Janusz Lehmann was a member of the International Institute of Conservation (IIC), the International Committee of Museums (ICOM) and an expert for the UNESCO commission dealing with the conservation of stone monuments. Up to his death he also fulfilled the function of the chairman of the Poznań Branch of the Society for Protection of Historical Monuments (TOnZ).
