Companies face the demographic, economic, technological changes and the globalization. New conditions mean the necessity to take action that will meet the growing expectations of employees and also help to strengthen the market position and the development. This article attempts to demonstrate that the solution, which will help to meet the challenges of today's environment, is the development and implementation of a talent management program. This process is involved with the necessity to determine the characteristics of talent in an organization, its needs and expectations. Moreover it requires to identify and overcome barriers in the management of this specific group of employees in order to prevent their departures, so that to obtain the greatest benefits from the implemented program (concerning not only the financial results of the organization, but also its image and employees’ motivation). To be effective, these activities should require the engagement of senior management and line managers.
