The work establishes the possibility of detecting albumen binders in samples of albumen and albumen binders, both pure and mixed with pigments. Such binders as: whole egg, egg yolks, gelatine and casein were chosen for the purpose of the analysis. The albumen and tempera binders were combined with the following pigments: lead white, copper blue, iron red and plant black. The selected method of infrared absorption spectrophotommetry made it possible to identify albumen binders in samples no smaller than 2 mg. This method, however, does not distinguish them qualitatively and only indicates gelatine, due to its appearance as a strand in 1400 cm"-1. The presence of pigments does not hinder the identification of pure albumen and albumen-oil binders. (translated by A. Rodzińska-Chojnowska)
