Przedmiotem artykułu są przykłady prewencyjnych ingerencji cenzorskich dokonywanych przez Wojewódzki Urząd Kontroli Prasy, Publikacji i Widowisk w „Tygodniku Powszechnym” na przestrzeni lat 1957–1961. Opracowanie jest próbą uzyskania odpowiedzi na pytania: w jakim stopniu Wojewódzki Urząd Kontroli Prasy, Publikacji i Widowisk (dalej: WUKPPiW) w Krakowie ingerował w treść „Tygodnika Powszechnego”?; w jaki sposób redakcja „Tygodnika Powszechnego” próbowała uzyskać większy zakres autonomii wobec WUKPPiW?; jak układały się relacje między WUKPPiW a tygodnikiem w latach 1957–1961? Podstawowym materiałem źródłowym artykułu są sprawozdania z kontroli prewencyjnych znajdujące się w zespole Głównego Urzędu Kontroli Prasy, Publikacji iWidowisk (dalej: GUKPPiW) przechowywane w Archiwum Akt Nowych (dalej: AAN).

The subject of the article are examples of preventive censorship interference by the Regional Office for Control of Press, Publications and Public Performances in „Tygodnik Powszechny” between 1957–1961. The study attempts to answer the following questions: to what degree did the Regional Office for Control of Press, Publications and Public Performances (later: WUKPPiW) in Kraków interfere with the content of „Tygodnik Powszechny”?; in what way did the editorial office try to obtain greater freedom from WUKPPiW?; how did the relations between WUKPPiW and the weekly look like between 1957–1961? The basic source material of the article are reports from preventive controls, available in the Main Office for Control of Press, Publications and Public Performances (later: GUKPPiW) stored in the Archive of Modern Records (later: AAN).
