The author argues in favour of intermediate position of critical social studies “between” the empirical sciences and reflexive form of knowledge inherent in philosophy. The reflexive form of knowledge which is made possible by the logical fullness of language is contained in the language games of particular sciences as a condition of their potentiality. It is of immediate relevance for the critical social studies because it makes possible ultimate justification of the criteria of social critique.
