The authoress presents the implementation of Universal Decimal Classification in the arrangement of open stacks content at the Main Library of the Kielce University of Technology. The following issues are discussed: the structure of subject areas, the choice of UDC symbols, rules for the classification of multidisciplinary works. It is necessary for the subject area arrangement to reflect changes resulting from the revision of UDC tables, increasing number of items within each area and users' needs. The article is concluded with the list of positive and negative impacts of UDC application in the arrangement of open stacks content.
