Pecularities of Figures in Writings of City Secretariat of Rus Voivodeship in the 16th Century (based on the documents of Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine, Lviv) Distinctive “Ukrainian province” of Latin Gothic writing had been formed since the middle of the 14th century in Rus Voivodeship as a result of Lviv City Secretariat’s activity and from here the Latin scripts spread all over Ukraine. Writing figures in secretariats of other cities of Rus Voivodeship has not been studied, while writing of books of Lviv secretariat was studied partly. The vast majority of city secretariat books have preserved from the 16th century. To fill in this historiographical gap the following were studied: selections of act books of Voit Government from Babich; books of Drohobych, Yaslyska, Terebovlia, Sambor City Councils; Council, court, Voit books from Brody. Arabic system was mainly used when writing figures. Several times the date of the year was written in Roman numerals by officials while writing texts of royal privileges. The variety of graphic forms of writing figures was typical not only in general but also in particular secretariats. The ways of writing figures (late Gothic, Gothic Humanistic and Humanistic) came from the corresponding types of writing used by officials in the documents. Figures typical of the European region of synchronous period can be determinated (e.g. 7,0) as well as examples where local features are present (some forms of figures 1, 3, 6, 5). Conservatism and stretching of writing figures were definitely used; forms typical of western and central parts of Poland and other countries 20-50 years ago were used. Krakow and Lviv City Councils influenced writing figures in regional secretariats of Rus Voivodeship of the 16th century because of: a) similarity of types of writings and graphics of figures in the regions compared in the research, b) examples studied before in Krakow and in Lviv
