In the present text, the author points out the importance of analytical comparison of Celtic and Slavonic languages and cultures. As examples he presents several fragments of this comparison: on the intellectualization of forms of the dual number in Breton and Czech, on the evaluation of the article in Celtic and Slavonic languages and on possible parallels in the external history and the periodization of Celtic and Slavonic languages

Autor, vycházeje z konceptu analytického srovnávání v duchu Viléma Mathesia jako protikladu k srovnávání genetickému a vedoucího k charakteristice jazykových a kulturních jevů na obecném pozadí, přináší několik příkladů a námětů na takové srovnávání z oblasti keltských a slovanských jazyků. Nejdříve srovnává různé intelektualizace původně duálových forem v bretonštině a v češtině. Pak píše o paralelách v hodnocení určitého členu (artikuloidu) ve slovanských jazycích a neurčitého členu v keltských jazycích. Nato uvádí různá témata pro analyticko-srovnávací výzkum v oblasti historie keltských a slovanských jazyků, jako je role velikosti a historického kontextu v dějinách jazyka, argumentace jazykových obrození a postavení jazyka v národních hnutích nebo role novodobého centralizovaného státu v jazykové politice. A nakonec pojednává o inspiracích, které poskytují periodizace dějin keltských jazyků pro periodizaci dějin češtiny.
