This paper aims to identify and analyze the ways in which physical education and sport pedagogy in Romania currently contribute to the reproduction of gender stereotypes. Sport opportunities are limited by the separate expectations of males and females in physical education and sport settings, leaving little room to challenge the meanings of masculinity and femininity through physical activity in the Romanian society.
