ANAPHORIC PRONOUNS AS OPERATORS OF INTRATEXTUAL QUANTIFICATION. EXPLANATION OF DESCRIPTIVE FUNCTION OF LEXEME 'ÓW'
Languages of publication
The article is trying to explain by means of semantically unconvertible words the meaning of anaphoric pronoun 'ten'/this and its Polish equivalent 'ów'. Examinated words can be described as the type of text organizers, which provide the coherence of text by referring to the parts of the prior or latter text. As the studies showed the basis of reference for discussed pronouns can be every content (no matter what position in themetic - rematic structure is has). Sometimes it is really difficult to define precisely what is the common element of referring clause structure and the basis (that the clause refers to). Using the pronouns this and 'ów' with their overriding element is possible only when clauses (remaining in referring relation) refer to current objects of the text. That's why the final explanation should be as follows: ÓW X / THIS X. 'I am talking about x; saying 'x' I want you to know about what / who I am talking because of my talking and what I am talking is the truth I want to say more'
