The presented article deals with the order of devolution of successions in the new Ukrainian Civil Code. The analysis begins with presentation of interstate succession under Soviet civil codes in force in Ukraine earlier. Later the current Civil Code relevant rules are described, particularly 5 groups of heirs, right of representation, contracts changing the order of devolution, judgment as a source of modification of the order of devolution, and the inheritance of the territorial community.
