The article is a critical commentary to the edition of two obituaries of king Jan Olbracht (1492-1501) preserved in municipal sources in Cracow. Besides a short characteristic of the sources in which the two texts are found, the author discusses the problem of their authorship, correcting the wrong conclusions in earlier literature. The analysis of the contents of the obituaries points to some facts enriching the knowledge about the rule of Jan Olbracht. The article is completed with the edition of the obituaries.
