The author discusses problems related to the area of psychology as well as issues of organisation and management. He presents selected concepts of personality and interprets them from the perspective of the process of employee hiring and appointment to posts. He thereby attempts at indicating the existence of causal connection between the application of the concepts of personality to the process of personnel selection and effects of the personnel's operation, i.e. their suitability for working at specific positions. Although the considerations contained in the paper are ones of theoretical nature, the author argues that use of personality concepts in the process of personnel hiring and appointment to posts is very important as regards the company as a whole, and human resources management in particular.
