The objective of the article is to illustrate the syntactic functions of the Portuguese structure known as Personal Infinitive (Infinitivo Pessoal) which is not present in the modern Spanish. The second aim is to show how the Spanish language copes with the absence of the structure in clarifying the Subject of the phrase. Even though, Spanish makes use of Personal Pronouns and other elements to substitute the missing Infinitive, the lack of Personal Infinitive can still be recognized in some cases.
