Przeanalizowano wpływ sfery badawczo-rozwojowej oraz potencjału naukowo-technologicznego na wzrost gospodarczy. Badanie to umożliwia ocenę zarówno korzyści wynikających z rozwoju nauki, jak i trudności związanych z adaptacją postępu technicznego oraz wynikających z tego negatywnych zjawisk. Analizę przeprowadzono na podstawie długookresowego modelu gospodarki W8-D, który powstał w Katedrze Modeli i Prognoz Ekonometrycznych Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego.

In the paper the impact of the research and development sector on the economic growth in Poland is analysed. The analysis was conducted using the long-term model W8-D of the Polish economy. This model includes the equations which describe relationships between the level of human capital, expenditures on R+D activity and economic situation. In the first simulation the increase of state budget expenditure was assumed, while in the second one the increase of investment outlays for machinery and technical equipment was imposed. The results indicate that potential output rises even if the growth of expenditures on R+D, which is a consequence of the growth of state budget and private expenditure, is insignificant. The rise of state budget expenditure also causes the rise of human capital. However, the positive effects of demand stimulation (i.e. employment growth) die out quickly. The increase of the economy absorption and optimal use of output capacity would definitely amplify the positive effects. (original abstract)
