Celem opracowania jest ukazanie faz rozwoju zatrudnienia i bezrobocia we Włoszech. Oceniono zmiany w poziomie, dynamice i strukturze zatrudnienia oraz zmiany w poziomie, strukturze i natężeniu bezrobocia w latach 80. i 90. Opisano przejawy pasywnej i aktywnej polityki rynku pracy oraz główne cechy włoskiego rynku pracy na tle Unii Europejskiej.

The target of this elaboration is to present a labour market in Italy in 90s in the light of the European Union. Two different phases were observed. In 1991-1995 a number of working persons was decreased from 2303200 to 2199300 (about 4,5 procent, but a number of unemployed persons was increased from 2083000 in the year of 1990 to 2711000 in the year of 1998 (about 30,1 procent . In the period of 1996-2001 noticed a growth of employment from 2199300 to 2350500 (about 6,9 procent and increase of unemployed persons from 2711000 in the year of 1998 to 2248000 in the year of 2001 (about 17,1 procent . Unemployment rate was increased from 8,9 procent in the y ear of 1990 to 11,7 procent in the y ear of 1998 and then decreased to 9,4 procent in the year of 2001. In 1990-2001 percentage of persons employed in the agriculture sector decreased from 9 procent to 4,8 procent in the industry sector from 32,4 procent to 29,4 procent but increased in the services sector from 58,6 procent to 65,8 procent Occupation activity in Italy was the lowest among "old countries " of the European Union. In the year of 2001 an employment rate was amounted to 53,5 procent (the EU -63,3 procent . Labour market characterises a low flexibility of employment and high level of restrictive legislation of protection of labour relations. Italy transmits 1,7 procent GDP on active and passive policy of labour market (the EU- 3,9 procent . (original abstract)
