Do mierników kapitału ludzkiego zalicza się: osiągnięcia edukacyjne populacji, liczbę lat nauki populacji, współczynniki skolaryzacji, wydatki na edukację i opiekę zdrowotną oraz relacje wynagrodzeń pracowników ze względu na poziom wykształcenia. Na podstawie syntetycznych mierników rozwoju skwantyfikowano zasób kapitału ludzkiego przy użyciu pięciu cech: wydatki na edukację i opiekę zdrowotną, udział osób z wykształceniem średnim i wyższym oraz śmiertelność niemowląt. Wyniki nie różniły się istotnie w stosunku do zastosowanego miernika.

The article concerns issue of human capital theory. Author presented various manners defining human capital. On the basis of presented definitions it appears that human capital not only consists of knowledge and skills, but also of other elements, i.e. cultural, psychological or medical. Additionally, author presented measurements of human capital. The most often used measurements of human capital are the following: coefficient of schooling on the appropriate level of education, average number of school years and the highest graduated level of education. Author also undertakes an effort to quantify resources of human capital using a synthetical taxonomic indicators. For survey were used the indicators of Strahl, CieŚlak and HDL Variables used in taxonomic survey covered an educational dimension of human capital as well as connected with health protection. Analyse covered 22 countries of the OECD in the period of 1994-2001. On the basis of synthetical taxonomic indicators it was possible to make a ranking of cntries by resources of human capital. Additionally, author estimated average increase and average rate of increase of human capital for each analysed country and on the basis of these data made a ranking of the mentioned above countries.
