W artykule zanalizowano kierunki zmian w gospodarce woj. łódkiego z punktu widzenia struktury i dynamiki rozwoju podmiotów gospodarczych w poszczególnych sekcjach PKD. Omówiono dominujące, najszybciej rozwijające się sekcje i działy gospodarki narodowejoraz mocen i słabe strony województwa.

The article is a recapitulation of changes in years 2000—2004 in particular sectors of economy in the Łódzkie voivodship and a trial to present a direction of further development of the Łódzkie voivodship. Analysis of employed persons and calculated location quotient presents a situation of the voivodship against a background of Poland. Taking into consideration a structure and dynamic of: entities of national economy registered in REGON register, self-employed persons, hires, terminations and graduates starting work for the first time in particulars sections of PKD classification, the author characterized a development of economy and directions of changes in the voivodship. Analysis was also conducted on the base of data on value of investment outlays in general, investment outlays of enterprises and gross added value in particular sections of economy. On the basis of data on employment and industry sold production, investment outlays and expenditures on innovation in industry described changes in manufacturing and branches of manufacturing. The author also compares an economic development in poviats of the Łódzkie voivodship. Results of the comparison were presented in the form of cartograms.
