Abstracts

W artykule przedstawiono metodę silhouette width/value. Metoda ta stosowana jest w analizie skupień do ustalania liczby grup, na jaką należy rozdzielić badane obiekty. Pierwotnie miała służyć jedynie do oceny jakości grupowania. Zdaniem autorów uzyskaną tą metodą liczbę skupień należy traktować bardziej jako dobry początek niż koniec badań.

One of the critical parameters required for several standard methods of grouping is defining the number of clusters, into which a given set should be divided. In the above article the silhouette method is introduced as one of uncomplicated ways of establishing the number of clusters in a given set. Moreover, the article presents the methodology of the silhouette index, two numerical examples and results of the conducted analysis.
