Analizy nierówności dochodowych dostarczają państwu istotnych informacji na temat dobrobytu mieszkańców kraju. Państwo, dysponując taką wiedzą, może skuteczniej prowadzić politykę transferów (np. podatków i zasiłków). Posiłkując się wybranymi miarami nierówności dochodowych gospodarstw domowych (współczynnik McLoone'a, Giniego, Theila, Robin Hooda itp.), autor przeprowadza analizę nierówności dochodowych gospodarstw domowych w Polsce w latach 2000 i 2003 w następujących grupach społeczno-ekonomicznych: pracownicy, rolnicy, pracownicy użytkujący gospodarstwo rolne, emeryci i renciści, pracujący na własny rachunek, utrzymujący się z niezarobkowych źródeł.

This paper is an attempt of analysis of income inequality of households in Poland including division of them into six groups: households of employees, of farmers, of employees-farmers, of retirees and pensioners, of self-employed and of maintained from non-earned sources. The analysis was made based on inequality measures using in majority of countries in the world, and also based on measures rarely found in documents of the same problem. In the first chapter of this paper, there were described shortly income inequality measures such as: measures based on deciles (i.e. McLoone index), Gini index, Theil index, Robin Hood index, and so on. The second chapter is empiric. There were presented results of research on the basis of individual data of households, published in "Diagnoza społeczna 2003" edited by J. Czapiński and T. Panek. Including division households into six groups there were calculated values of income inequality indices in Poland in years 2000 and 2003, and then there were reached conclusions consequent from calculations.
