Autor rozważa rozwój badań reprezentacyjnych w 90-leciu GUS. Rozpoczyna artykuł omówieniem wkładu polskiego statystyka Jerzego Neymana w rozwój teorii badań reprezentacyjnych w 1933 r., a następnie dokonuje syntetycznego przeglądu rozwoju teorii i praktyki badań reprezentacyjnych na świecie. Dokonuje następnie przeglądu rozwoju teorii i praktyki badań reprezentacyjnych w Polsce po 1945 r., wyszczególniając jednocześnie badania powtarzalne, oceny jakości danych oraz metody estymacji dla małych obszarów. Podkreśla szczególny wkład polskich statystyków w rozwój metod estymacji dla małych obszarów. The author of this article considers sample surveys' development in the ninety decade of CSO. The article begins with the description of polish statistician Jerzy Neyman's contribution in sample surveys' development theory. Next, the synthetic review of theory development and sample surveys' practice in the world was made. The author also made the review of development theory and sample surveys' practice in Poland after the year 1945, specifying at the same time repeated surveys, data quality's estimation and estimation method for the small areas. In the ending author emphasizes the need of conducting further research works in these domain and necessity of cooperation between the specialists from different disciplines. (original abstract)
